Day eight - Incan sights

Today was a busy day of sight seeing. We visited a weaving planterra which was set up by Gadventures to support the local community.

The men farmed the land and the women weaved clothing. We were taught how the wool is processed in order to be weaved.

This included petting the llamas and alpacas whose wool was being used!!

We learnt about dyes and how the women create the designs, which all represent something such as marriage or a farming process.

Further along, we visited the Sacred Valley. We journeyed up the long, winding road and saw the terraces that the Incas created to farm upon.

Finally we arrived in Ollantaytambo, a small but very important town to Peruvians. The revolution against the Spanish was led here by Manko Inca. The town is littered with Inca ruins. Far up in the hills lie the storehouses.
