Day nine - The trek begins

Having packed our duffel again to make sure we only had our allotted 2kg, we set off to Km 82, the start of the trail the Incas took to reach Machu Piccu. Our original Gadventures group had been split into two groups (those climbing the Inca trail and those climbing the Lares trek). So, we met our new group and began the journey.

We trekked through beautiful scenery, with a variety of flora and passed several small ruin sites like Llactapata. The mountain views were amazing but we knew it would get even better.

Upon arriving at our designated camp,  Wayllabamba  Camp, we got a round of applause! Although I think the porters deserved it more. Often on our trek we would see them racing past is with their backpacks on, weighing around 25kg! Our tents were all set up for us so we enjoyed a beer overlooking the scenery.

Happy hour consisted of hot chocolate and crackers. Then dinner. How they made such delicious food up a mountain is anyone's guess! The easy day was done so we wrapped up warm and went to bed.
